MediaTek's New Chipset Helio G85 Announced for Gamers

MediaTek, which has been producing chips and processors for smart phones for many years, introduced the new mobile processor Helio G85, which will meet the needs of gamers. We will see the processor first on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9.


In recent years, the interest of players has shifted to the mobile game industry. This market is growing steadily. Naturally, manufacturers are adding products to their gamut that can attract the attention of game enthusiasts and evaluate their demands.


One of these companies is MediaTek . The company's G-series chipsets were developed to meet the needs of the players. MediaTek Helio G85 , the new member of the series , was also officially introduced and it became clear which smartphone to use first.


The first phone with MediaTek Helio 95 will be Xiaomi Redmi Note 9

In fact, the processor was not introduced on its own, rather it was revealed during the promotional event that Xiaomi made . Xiaomi said at the event that this processor is " For those who play games every day" . The chipset comes with a 2 + 6 core layout. The phone's 2 cores belong to the Cortex-A75 series, and the remaining 6 cores belong to the Cortex-A55 series. Cortex-A75 chips have a speed of 2.0 GHz.


On top of the chipset, the Mali G52 GPU comes integrated, the speed of this GPU is 1000 Mhz. Helio G85 performs better than Snapdragon 665 and Exynos 9611, according to benchmark results shared by Xiaomi .


On the other hand, the new chipset is not much different from the Helio G80. There is no change in the processor set on the main cores, behind the performance gap is the 50M faster Arm Mail G52 GPU.


Smoother YouTube enjoyment

MediaTek also announced that YouTube video broadcasts will not be interrupted thanks to the AV1 video codec used in MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G SoC . Accordingly, thanks to the new processor, "incredible image quality and smoother video experience, with less data usage " can become a reality.


Dr. MediaTek's Wireless Business Unit General Manager Yenchi Lee said in a statement that the company always aims to improve the user experience , and this technology is an example. Lee also noted that videos are the most common form of communication, and the rate of broadcast platform usage for millennials and Z Generation has reached 70 percent .
