The 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime, expected to be released in the second half of 2020, is known as the fastest and most efficient version of Toyota's popular SUV. As a RAV4 PHV (Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle), the new model, which will come to regions outside the USA, has been officially introduced in Japan.

The RAV4 plug-in hybrid, which can produce a total of 302 horsepower, is 38% more powerful than the current RAV4 Hybrid model with 219 horsepower. Toyota expects the vehicle, which can reach 100 km / h in just 6 seconds, impressively reach a range of approximately 1,285 km while using the hybrid mode.

2021 Toyota promises high performance compared to RAV4 PHV segment

The 2021 Toyota RAV4 plug-in hybrid model can travel only about 62 km with a battery and promises superior performance compared to its segment. The RAV4 PHV uses the new Toyota Hybrid System (THS II), including the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine as well as the front and rear electric motors. The lithium-ion battery helps lower the RAV4's center of gravity by placing it under the floor and in the center. The E-Four electric 4WD system distributes power to all four wheels for better control in snowy and wet conditions.

The new RAV4 PHV supports bidirectional charging (1,500 W), where it can operate as an external power source. Charging the vehicle takes five and a half hours to fully charge with a standard charger and a 200 volt outlet. The car stands out with its distinctive Emotional Red II color, 19-inch alloy wheels and black underbody, mirror caps and roof. The interior design in red and black tones and the black faux leather seats complete the sporty feel.

The RAV4 PHV has a 9-inch infotainment display. It is also equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense package, which includes pre-collision warning, blind spot monitoring and parking sensors.
