REMOVING THE SPECIAL STATUS OF CAMMU
Jammu Kashmir had a privileged position since 1947, when independence was gained from England. This special status also included citizenship law, which did not allow foreigners to reside and buy property in the region.
However, the privileged status of this region disappeared by the cancellation of the 370th article of the constitution giving privilege to Jammu Kashmir on August 5, 2019, by the management of the nationalist People's Party of India.
On 31 October 2019, Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh, which were connected to the center, were divided into two as "Union Territory" by New Delhi.
